چکیده

Sulfur metabolism, the oldest known redox processes mediated by dsr operon, maintains the environmental sulfur balance. DsrP protein from the dsr operon transports electrons from the environmental sulfur substrates for performing the reactions. We therefore, tried to analyze the probable molecular basis of DsrP proteins using only the sequence information. We also tried to predict the effects of the mutations present in the sequences of DsrP proteins and a phylogenetic relationship between the organisms possessing the operon has been drawn. Our study may therefore shed light in the hitherto unknown biochemical mechanism of the sulfur oxidation process through dsr operon.

Mutation study of DsrM from Allochromatium vinosum using the amino acid sequences☆

Sulfur metabolism is one of the oldest known environmental processes. The operon involved in this process is called the dsr operon. The vital role of the operon is to maintain the environmental sulfur balance. The dsr operon of proteobacteria consists of 15 genes, viz. dsrABEFHCMKLJOPNRS. The proteins encoded by the dsr operon are essential for the transfer of sulfur globules from periplasm to ...

Structural analyses of the interactions of SoxY and SoxZ from thermo-neutrophilic Hydrogenobacter thermophilus

Microbial redox reactions of inorganic sulfur compounds are one of the important reactions responsible for the recycling of this element to maintain the environmental sulfur balance. These reactions are carried out by phylogenetically diverse set of microorganisms. The sulfur oxidizing gene cluster (sox) of thermo-neutrophilic bacterium Hydrogenobacter thermophilus consists of soxYZAXB. The bac...

Isolation and molecular characterization of partial FSH and LH receptor genes in Arabian camels (Camelus dromedarius)

Very little is known about LHR and FSHR genes of domestic dromedary camels. The main objective of this study was to determine and analyze partial genomic regions of FSHR and LHR genes in dromedary camels for the first time. To this end, a total of 50 DNA samples belonging to dromedary camels raised in Iran were sent for sequencing (25 samples of each gene). We compared the nucleotide sequences ...

Molecular characterization of apolipoprotein A-I from the skin mucosa of Cyprinus carpio

Apolipoprotein A-I is the most abundant protein in Cyprinus carpio plasma that plays an important role in lipid transport and protection of the skin by means of its antimicrobial activity. A 527 bp cDNA fragment encoding C terminus part of apoA-I from the skin mucosa of common carp was isolated using RT-PCR. After GenBank database searching, a partial sequence containing a coding sequence (CDS)...
